
A support app for children with developmental delays.
The aim of the application is to design a homework guidance tool where clients aged 4 to 20 with a motor and/or psychological developmental delay are motivated and supported in their own development. The most important stakeholders are the healthcare provider, the client and the parents. In the current situation, there is no proper support to help clients do the home exercises. The result of this is that there is insufficient insight into how the client works on his own development outside the classroom.

Focus on older children
Research has shown that the target group is too large to design one application for it. That is why we have chosen to focus on primary school students in groups 6, 7 and 8. They can use the app independently. It is also important to take the following into account: that there are different levels, that rewards are given, that they receive feedback and that there are tutorial videos to learn the exercises and that it is in line with the children's perception of the world.

The target group is stimulated by rewards
The slogan of the concept is 'open closed doors by doing homework'. After completing an exercise, clients earn a reward in the form of a grade. When all exercises have been done and thus all numbers have been earned, they can open the combination lock of the safe. The safe contains a game or a movie as the ultimate reward. This should ensure that doing homework becomes more fun for the target group and that they are stimulated to keep practicing the exercises.

An enthusiastic target group and a product that has influence.
It was nice to work for this young target group. The enthusiasm of these children during the interviews and tests, that's what you do it all for. In this project, the concept is clearly reflected in the prototype and the tests showed that it has added value for the target group to be motivated to do the homework.
